Concerns and Risks of Emailing

Our clinic has taken reasonable means to protect the security and content of the information we receive via email.

Protocols

We do suggest the following protocols when choosing what to send to us through email:

Emergency: NEVER email us in the case of an emergency. Proceed to the nearest hospital or call 911.

Urgent Issues: NEVER email us in the case of an urgent or time sensitive problem. Either call our office at 613-774-0915, 911 or proceed to the nearest hospital.

Risks Associated with Emailing

a) Please remember that once something is transmitted over the internet it can be broadcasted to a huge audience whether you intended to do this or not. Emails can also be stored on servers in the internet for many many years and could reappear decades later. Backup copies of emails can be store for a very long time even though you have deleted the email on your end.

b) Employers have the right to inspect and archive all emails sent from their computers.

c) Check the email address you are sending to so that you ensure that the address is correct. Misspelled addresses could cause your message to go to unintended recipients.

d) NEVER send text or photos that are sensitive in nature. Remember, these attachments can reappear many years from now.

e) Emails are submissible as legal evidence in court.
